Is there a way to hide the dashboard from the members who have the “subscriber” access level. I found http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-hide-dashboard/ which seems to do a good job of making it so they can only access their profile and nothing else which is nice. I’m trying to find a way to not allow them to see that the site is running on WordPress. I’m pretty sure they will only be able to see the WP login if they type example.com/wp-admin into the address bar but not 100% sure on that either. I’ve seen plugins that will let me re-brand the WP Dashboard but I feel it would be simpler just to redirect if they login through the wp-admin link. Maybe there is a hook/filter I can add that checks the user level at login and if it’s subscriber redirect to the profile page of BuddyPress.

Looks like I spoke to soon. Peters Login Redirect Plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/peters-login-redirect/) takes advantage of the filter added in 2.6.2. You can read an article about the plugin here http://www.theblog.ca/wplogin-redirect. If anyone else has other ideas let me know. For now I’m just going to send all subscribers to edit profile page upon login from the wp-admin section.
